How do I sign up for a Hotmail Email Account?

To sign up for a new Hotmail or Outlook Live email address, you need to visit the main Outlook website, and you can do this by going to www.Outlook.com, or by going to www.Hotmail.com, which now re-directs to the Outlook homepage.

From there, click on ‘Create Free Account’ and you will be taken to the account sign up form.

The first thing you will need to do is decide on your new email address prefix, or username. This will need to be unique, so it cannot already be in use by another Hotmail or Outlook user. It must start with a letter, but it can also contain numbers, dashes and underscores.

By default, the email address will have the @outlook.com suffix. However, if you click on the arrow next to Outlook.com, you can select @hotmail.com instead.

From there, click ‘Next’ and work your way through the sign up form. You will need to decide on a password and enter some basic personal details, such as your name, location and preferred language.

You may also need to enter a security ‘captcha’ code. Upon completing the form, your new email address will be created.
